Your Voluma XC injections will be done in the comfort of Dr. Berkowitz’s Sterling Heights or West Bloomfield offices. When you arrive, your face will be cleansed and prepped. You will then recline in the treatment chair while Dr. Berkowitz carefully places the injections, guided by his keen eye for facial aesthetics and proportions, which he has developed over the years as a plastic surgeon.
Because Juvéderm Voluma XC is formulated with lidocaine, an anesthetic, you shouldn’t feel any pain during this process. In fact, most of our Michigan patients report that the treatment is very comfortable. At the very most, you may feel a slight, quick pinch as the fine-gauge needle is injected into your skin.
Depending on the extent of your volume loss, you may need between one and two syringes of Voluma to achieve your desired results. Once your injections are complete, Dr. Berkowitz will apply ice packs to the area for several minutes.
There is no downtime associated with Juvéderm Voluma XC, so you will be free to return to your normal daily routine right away. However, you should avoid exercise, heat, and sun exposure for 24 hours. If possible, sleep on your back for two nights to avoid disrupting the filler.
In terms of results, they should be apparent right away with a noticeable improvement in cheek volume and definition. You may experience some swelling and bruising, though these effects will be mild and should resolve within three days.
