How the Exilis laser works

The Exilis laser uses radiofrequency energy to heat the deepest layers of your skin, minimizing fat cells and stimulating the production of fresh collagen. This process enhances the tone and texture of your skin, and improves its quality and appearance from the inside out.

What to expect during your appointment

The Exilis laser treatment is performed in the comfort of Dr. Berkowitz’s Detroit office. No anesthesia is necessary, but we will apply a topical numbing cream to ensure your comfort. The entire appointment should take about one hour.

During the procedure, Dr. Berkowitz will place the Exilis device over the treatment area.

Once in place, the handpiece will deliver focused radiofrequency (RF) energy to the deepest layers of your skin, while keeping the surface soft and cool.

Our patients often report a slight warming sensation during this process, but no pain. As the laser treats the area, it shrinks your fat cells and stimulates the growth of fresh, supportive collagen.

After your session

There is no downtime after your Exilis laser treatment. As such, you can return to work and your normal daily routine right away. In terms of side effects, you may experience some mild redness and pinkness, but it should dissipate very quickly. In the meantime, it’s important to protect the treated area by staying out of the sun and wearing sunscreen.

Most patients notice visible results in their body contour after one to two treatments. As long as you maintain your weight moving forward with a healthy diet and exercise regimen, the treated fat cells will not return.
