Your procedure: What to expect

When you arrive at Dr. Berkowitz’s Michigan office the day of your treatment, you will be given local anesthesia to ensure your complete comfort. If you’re having your entire face done, the procedure can take up to two hours. If you are only treating certain areas of your face, expect to be at the office for 30 to 45 minutes.

During your procedure, the Mixto SX CO2 laser will deliver a therapeutic matrix of tiny beams of light energy (each about the size of a hair) to the top and middle layers of the skin. The recovery period

Laser skin resurfacing is an outpatient procedure, so you will be free to return home immediately after your appointment. You will be red and swollen the next day, and you can expect some peeling on the third and fourth day. These effects are not extensive and are similar to a sunburn.
