Common moles are benign, pigmented spots or patches of skin that can range in color from tan to brown to black. Whether you want to remove your mole for cosmetic or medical reasons, there are a number of options available.
What Does a Normal Mole Look Like?
A normal, common mole is dark and uniform in color. It may be slightly raised above the skin. An atypical mole is called “dysplastic nevi.” These growths may be larger than common moles and feature irregular borders and different colors. They are considered precancerous and have a higher chance of becoming melanoma.
