Neograft Hair Restoration

A full head of hair can change your outlook on life. Our NeoGraft hair restoration procedure is a safe, effective and modern solution to hair loss for both men and women.

Why am I losing my hair?

It’s normal for your hair to thin a bit with age. It happens to everyone. However, if you see bald patches and significant thinning, consider it a sign that you’re experiencing hair loss – also known as alopecia.

A number of factors can cause hair loss, including:

  • Stress
  • Childbirth
  • Genetic factors
  • Certain diseases and medications

The most common cause by far is hereditary hair loss. This condition typically starts with thinning areas and progresses to complete hair loss in certain locations on the scalp.

Signs of hereditary hair loss

Hereditary hair loss follows distinct patterns. In men, it tends to begin at the temples and crown, before progressing into an M-shaped pattern. At its most advanced stages, the patient only has hair along the sides and back of the scalp.

In women, hereditary hair loss commonly appears at the top of the head and extends down the middle. Often the hair along the forehead and temples will appear normal.

Can hereditary hair loss be prevented?

Once you notice hair loss in a hereditary pattern, you may be able to slow it down with medication, such as Rogaine or Propecia. If medication isn’t an option for you, a transplant can be performed to restore your full head of hair.

We are also proud to offer the Lasercap, an FDA-cleared device to stop hair loss and regrow hair. It's backed by experts in the fields of science and medicine, and is designed for optimal results and comfort.

Your hair restoration options

In general, there are two main types of hair restoration techniques: FUS and FUE:

FUS

Follicular unit strip method

FUS is also known simply as the “strip” method. It involves taking a donor strip from the sides and back of the scalp and transplanting the grafts in the balding and thinning areas. It requires an incision and stitches in the donor site and leaves a scar.

FUE

Follicular unit extraction

Rather than a large strip, FUE gently extracts hair follicles one by one. As such, it is associated with a number of benefits for our Detroit patients, including less bleeding, no incisions, no stitches and no scarring. It can also be performed without sedation.

NeoGraft FUE: Quick + Effective + Affordable

Dr. Berkowitz’s hair transplant method of choice for his Detroit clients is NeoGraft FUE. He considers this approach to be superior to other FUE options because it overcomes many of the challenges associated with the technique, such as follicle damage, prolonged timeframe and high cost.

NeoGraft uses a vacuum-like suction to extract and implant the follicles, thus reducing the procedure time for our Michigan patients.

NeoGraft can usually be performed in the same amount of time as a strip procedure, and therefore costs less than conventional, time-consuming FUE. Furthermore, since the follicles are removed and then replaced with pneumatic pressure rather than manual handling, there is less damage to the bulbs and a greater likelihood that the follicles will survive.

NeoGraft FUE: The benefits

  • Minimal damage to the follicles
  • A greater chance of a successful treatment
  • Few activity restrictions after the procedure
  • Less time-consuming than alternatives
  • Less downtime and discomfort
  • No sutures or staples required
  • Low risk of complications
  • Rapid healing

The procedure

Dr. Berkowitz performs the NeoGraft hair restoration procedure in his Detroit office using local anesthesia. During the treatment, individual micro grafts will be gently extracted in a precise, consistent fashion.

Each harvested graft will be placed onto thinning or balding areas of the scalp. Once the hair transplant is complete, you will be able to return home immediately and resume your normal activities within a few days.
