A brow lift smooths forehead lines and lifts sagging brows. It refreshes your expression for a more youthful, alert appearance.
Brow Lift Techniques
Facial cosmetic surgeon Dr. Mark N. Berkowitz performs the brow lift in an operating room with IV sedation. There are several different techniques which may be used to reposition a heavy brow or fallen forehead, the choice of which will depend on the individual patient and their desires. For some patients a less extensive procedure may be sufficient which only repositions the brow. Other patients may be seeking more dramatic improvement in the upper face in order to address deep forehead creases or excess hooding. Dr. Berkowitz commonly performs the direct brow lift technique at the same time as upper eyelid surgery. This allows the brow lift to be performed through the same incision made for eyelid surgery, which is a thin incision located along the natural crease of the eyelid.
Through this incision, the fallen brow is repositioned by raising the brow and tacking it into place with a dissolvable implant. Once the incisions heal, the scars are not visible. For temporal and suture brow lifts, small incisions are hidden within the hairline, and the fallen brow is repositioned with suture lifts or thick suturing material. This is an excellent technique for dramatically reducing the appearance of heavy hooding at the outer corners of the eyes. Another technique, the endoscopic forehead lift, uses a tiny camera device known as an endoscope. This procedure is performed through tiny incisions that are hidden in the hairline, resulting in minimal scarring and less recovery time.
