Over time, life takes a significant toll on a woman’s body. Breastfeeding, fluctuations in weight, heredity and aging, and genetics may dictate that your breasts are no longer as firm and youthful as they once were. Your areolas may grow larger through the years. A mastopexy, or breast lift, will boost and raise your bust line through the removal of excess skin from the breasts and the reshaping of surrounding tissue. It will firm up your breasts and can also reduce the size of your areolas—giving your breasts and younger, firmer and perkier appearance.
Breast Lift; The Procedure
The Breast Lift procedure lasts about two to three hours and is performed while the patient is under either intravenous sedation or general anesthesia. The breast tissue will be lifted and reshaped to improve contour and to increase firmness, and excess skin will be removed. In addition, the nipples will be repositioned, giving them a younger and more natural appearance.
After the procedure, dressings and bandages will be applied to the incisions. In order to reduce swelling and support your breasts as they heal, you will be instructed to wear either a support bra or an elastic bandage. Recovery time will take about seven days, and you will be able to return completely to normal activities after fourteen days. As your new breast shape and position settles over the next few months, the final results of your breast lift will emerge. Some of the incision lines will be hidden in a natural way by the contour of the breast, others may be visible. All incision lines, over time, will somewhat fade.
