Treatments: Safe + comprehensive + child-friendly
We offer a suite of innovative treatment options that are tailored specifically to meet the needs of our younger patients. Using a holistic approach, we can treat virtually any pediatric dermatologic condition – from minor skin conditions to serious, life-altering disorders.
- Cryotherapy. Cryotherapy involves freezing an affected area of skin to remove damaged tissue. It is often used to treat warts, moles, benign tumors and lesions on or just below the surface. Once frozen, the problematic tissue is eliminated. As the area heals, fresh, undamaged skin will grow back in its place.
- Laser treatments. Our advanced laser procedures are designed to safely and effectively treat the sensitive skin of our younger patients. They can be customized to each child’s unique needs and may be used to treat a wide range of conditions, including: Acne, Acne scarring, Hair loss, Port wine stains, Vascular lesions, Psoriasis, Warts, Vitiligo, Hemangiomas
- Phototherapy. Dr. Berkowitz often uses phototherapy to treat severe psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. The procedure involves emitting light at various wavelengths to slow down the growth of new skin cells.
- Surgery. In some cases, dermatologic conditions can’t be resolved with lasers or another minimally-invasive solution. When this occurs, your child may require surgery.
For example, some moles can’t be shaved or frozen off – they have to be surgically excised. We may also recommend surgery if there’s a chance that a precancerous or problematic mole could grow back. In that case, the mole will cut out in its entirety and then close the incision with stitches.
