There seem to be many different procedures referred to as mini facelifts. What are the available options for less invasive/mini facelift procedures and are some better than others?
Dr. Berkowitz performs the Quicklift, which is an amazing procedure that gives the same long term changes as a facelift with being less invasive! Quick Lift also requires little down time. Dr. Berkowitz is the only Doctor in the state of Michigan to offer this procedure. We encourage you to research companies who perform those mini lifts as they won't last as long and Dr. Berkowitz has corrected many.
I am 51 years old and see other woman my age that look much better. There is less wrinkling and their skin seems smoother and younger. I would like a facelift but I have some concerns about the procedure. Do you have to actually pull the skin away from the underlying tissue of the face? Will there be scarring that shows?
The Quick Lift procedure that I perform is a revolutionary procedure that improves upon the traditional facelift. The incision is hidden within the hairline and within the ear itself, so even your hair dresser should have a difficult time seeing it. Not only is skin tightened, but more importantly, there are tightening sutures in the underling muscle to lift the muscle and to lift the underlying volume that's fallen due to gravity. I believe this is safer than the traditional facelift in which muscle can be cut and can cause complications like nerve damage. Your friends, who you feel may look better, may have better skin quality too – so many times skin resurfacing may be necessary to improve the skin quality.
I have been a smoker for the past 50 years of my life. I would like to get a face lift to get rid of my deep wrinkles – would it be possible to really eliminate their appearance?
An examination is extremely important; also important is for you to STOP smoking. Smokers unfortunately do not do as well with facial surgery as non-smokers. There is greater risk for a smoker in the performance of a facelift. A facelift can be performed to eliminate wrinkles, sometimes this is combined with laser skin resurfacing.
Would it be advisable to have a facelift while Botox and fillers are still in effect? I had both these procedures done within the last year.
Unless Botox has been performed within the last 3 months it is probably out of the system at this time. For the most part, a facelift addresses the lower face, jaw, and chin, where Botox is not readily used. Botox is normally used in the upper face. So even if you had Botox right prior to the surgery it should not cause any harm and may be helpful in that it relaxes the muscles around the eyelids so they are not pulling after the procedure is performed- which may give better results.
Fillers – depending upon their placement should not have any effect upon the facelift. The doctor would need to examine you prior to make the final decision.
