Can fat injection be used to treat acne scarring?

Yes! Fat can be used to help fill and smooth out acne scarring. The benefit of your own fat is that it is safe since it is your own and the fat will last your for many years!

Question:

Can Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing be used after Sculptra?

Answer:

A patient asks, “I had Sculptra injected in my temple and under eye areas for acne scars and would like to know if fractional laser repair can now be used.”

I have successfully combined treatments for many years for my Michigan medical spa patients.  It is not unusual for a patient to have great outcomes at Accents medical spa after having fillers (Sculptra, Restylane, Radiesse), Botox Cosmetic, Thermage, and Mixto fractional laser all during one visit!  Some physicians may prefer to space treatments out but research seems to show that this is not always necessary.

So, 6 months after having Sculptra treatments, there is really no reason that any fractional laser cannot now be used upon your skin.  If, however, you are considering fractional laser resurfacing, I highly recommend speaking with a physician who is using Mixto laser technology out of Italy.  It offers all of the benefits of a Fraxel-like procedure with far more comfort during and after the procedure.  See for yourself how beautifully Mixto can work for acne scars…

Mixto fractional laser resurfacing works beautifully to help reduce scarring caused by acne. This CO2 (carbon dioxide) laser helps to deliver a precise matrix of Microspots that penetrate to the dermis and stimulate the formation of new collagen. At the same time, immediate shrinkage of damaged tissue is achieved.

The Mixto improves pigmentation problems, reduces pore size appearance, wrinkles, acne scars, and other textural irregularities. The laser has an additive effect and many patients will notice greater improvement when they have multiple sessions.

Compared to traditional skin resurfacing, clients experience less downtime and are more comfortable during the procedure. It is unlikely that anyone procedure will completely smooth the skin from acne scars but my patients have noticed an improvement ranging from 30-60 %.

When you compare it to Fraxel make sure you are comparing it to the Fraxel Re:pair which is based on the same CO2 laser technology as Mixto.  The older fraxel model is based upon erbium and may not give the same improvement.
