Artefill® is a safe, FDA-approved, microsphere-enhanced collagen filler designed to produce long-lasting correction of nasolabial folds. Unlike temporary dermal fillers which require repeat injections every three to nine months to maintain results, Artefill® contains unique microspheres which are not absorbed by the body over time. Once injected, these microspheres provide the skin with the necessary support structure to produce smooth, natural, long-lasting results.

Artefill® is an ideal solution for the nasolabial folds, the lines which run from the nose to the corners of the mouth. Once injected, the collagen contained within Artefill® produces an immediate, visible correction of the wrinkle. As the collagen eventually diminishes, the microspheres take over to provide the necessary support structure beneath the skin for continued, lasting improvement.

Dr. Berkowitz performs Artefill® injections in the office setting at Accents Cosmetic Surgery of Sterling Heights, Michigan. The procedure takes just minutes to complete and is performed with an anesthetic to minimize discomfort.

Side effects are minimal and patients are able to immediately return to their normal activities. As with any injectable filler, mild swelling or redness may occur. These side effects generally fade within twenty-four hours. Rarely, mild bruising may occur for three to seven days. Results are immediate with continued improvement occurring over time.

Depending on the depth of the wrinkle or fold, one to two treatments may be required. Studies have shown results remaining in patients for up to five years after treatment.
